Attachment therapy for closeness that feels complicated
I work with people who want help making sense of trust, distance, and the push-pull in relationships. We can slow things down and pay attention to what happens when connection feels hard to hold.
What people bring me
People often come in feeling guarded, easily hurt, or unsure how to let anyone close. Some are tired of repeating the same relationship patterns or feeling unsettled when someone gets too near or too far away. Others notice that old experiences still shape how they respond now, even when they want something different. It can show up as trouble trusting, fear of being left, or feeling overwhelmed by dependence on others.
- I want closeness, then I pull away.
- I never know if I can trust people.
- I get overwhelmed when someone depends on me.
- I keep expecting people to leave.
I listen for what closeness has meant in your life, not just what is happening now.
How I work with it
I stay close to your pace and pay attention to the story behind your reactions. Together, we look at patterns in relationships, what your body notices, and what feels possible in the room. For children, teens, or young adults, I may include caregivers or family members when that supports the work.
What the first sessions look like
The first sessions are about understanding what trust, distance, and safety have felt like for you. We talk about what is happening in the present, what you want help with, and what feels important to keep in view.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I reply as soon as I can, usually within 1-2 business days.
Questions people ask
Why do I keep pushing people away when I want connection?
That can be a painful pattern to live with. In therapy, we look at what gets stirred up when closeness starts to feel real.
Can you help if I don't know how to talk about this?
Yes. You do not need the story perfectly organized before we begin, and we can work with what feels most present.
Is this only for relationship problems?
No. Attachment concerns can show up in family life, friendships, dating, or how safe you feel in general.
What if my child seems shut down with people?
We can explore what helps your child feel safer and more understood. The work moves at a pace that respects how much trust is there already.
