Therapy for young adults when the days feel too heavy
I work with young adults who are trying to get through the day while carrying anxiety, grief, depression, or the aftereffects of trauma. We can begin with what feels most urgent and make sense of it together.
What people bring me
Young adults often come in when work, school, relationships, or everyday routines have started to feel harder than they should. They may be noticing constant worry, low energy, shutdown, or a body that won't settle. Some are trying to figure out who they are while also handling family pressure, loss, or old experiences that still show up now. The work starts with what is most pressing, not with having a polished explanation.
- I keep pushing through, but I'm worn out.
- I can't tell what's anxiety and what's everything else.
- I miss how I used to feel.
- I want support, but I don't know what to say first.
How I work with it
I work with young adults by keeping the focus on what they are living with right now and how it shows up in the body, relationships, and daily life. Some people want more room to talk it through, while others need help noticing what their body is doing under stress. I stay attentive to the context around their stress, including family, identity, and the pressure of this stage of life. The pace and focus shift with what feels most urgent in the room.
- Body-centered therapy
- With young adults, I may invite attention to breath, movement, tension, or settling when words are hard to find. That can help us notice how stress is living in the body right now.
- Culturally respectful care
- I pay attention to the family, language, identity, and lived experience that shape a young adult's life. That helps us talk about stress in a way that fits their real world.
What the first sessions look like
In the first sessions, I listen for what feels difficult, what has helped before, and what feels possible today. We talk about what is getting in the way in daily life and what you want me to understand about your situation. You do not need the right language before we start.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I reply as soon as I can, usually within 1-2 business days.
We can begin with what you know now and give the rest time.
Questions people ask
Do you work with young adults who are overwhelmed but don't know why?
Yes. Some people come in because they feel worn down, stuck, or on edge without a clear explanation. We can start with what you notice now and sort through it from there.
Can you help if I'm dealing with grief and school or work at the same time?
Yes, that mix is common in this age group. We can talk about what is most urgent and how it's affecting day-to-day life.
What if I have trouble talking about feelings?
That's okay. We can begin with what you know now, including what your body is doing or what has changed in daily life.
Is this only for college-age people?
No. I work with young adults within the age range I see, and we focus on what this period of life is bringing up for you.
