Emotional Regulation therapy for feelings that move fast
I work with people whose feelings seem to arrive all at once, stay too long, or spill into everything around them. We can look at what happens before, during, and after those moments.
What people bring me
People often come in feeling like their reactions are bigger than they want them to be. They may cry easily, snap quickly, shut down, or feel flooded by stress before they can explain what is happening. Some feel embarrassed by their reactions and tired of being misunderstood. Others notice that once they are upset, it is hard to get back to steady again.
- I go from fine to overwhelmed so fast.
- I say things I don't mean when I'm upset.
- I can't calm myself down once I get worked up.
- My feelings take over before I can think.
We slow things down enough to notice what your feelings are asking for.
How I work with it
I pay attention to the moments before feelings take over, not just the moments after. Together, we notice body signals, stress, relationships, and the situations that make things harder or easier. With children and teens, I may also work with caregivers to understand what helps at home and in daily routines.
What the first sessions look like
The first sessions focus on what your emotions look like in real life and what tends to set them off. We talk about patterns, triggers, and what you already do to cope, without expecting you to have it all figured out.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I reply as soon as I can, usually within 1-2 business days.
Questions people ask
Why do I get overwhelmed so easily?
There are often many pieces behind that experience, and we can sort through them together. The work focuses on what is happening in your life and body when feelings rise quickly.
Can you help with my child's big feelings?
Yes, I work with children and families around emotional regulation. We can look at what your child needs, what happens at home, and how caregivers can support the process.
What if I shut down instead of getting angry?
That counts too, and it can be part of the same struggle with regulation. We can notice both loud and quiet ways emotions show up.
Do I have to talk about childhood for this?
Not right away. We can start with what is happening now and follow what feels relevant from there.
